The court seized 4.6 hectares of land from the owner in the Kstovo District over a massive landfill.

      The Kstovo City Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has ruled to seize from the owner an agricultural land plot of 4.6 hectares. The plot, located in the Kstovo District, will be sold at public auction.

      According to the Office of Rosselkhoznadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Mari El, the basis for the seizure were the owner's systematic violations of land legislation.

      As early as 2023 it was established that the land was not being used for its intended purpose: more than 1 hectare was littered with construction waste, and the remaining part of the plot had become overgrown with trees, shrubs and weeds. As a result, soil fertility on the contaminated part of the plot decreased by almost 35% compared with standard levels.

      All measures provided for by law were applied to the owner: administrative fines were imposed, and orders were issued to eliminate the violations, remove the waste and clean up the site. However, the supervisory authority's requirements were not fulfilled.

      In this connection Rosselkhoznadzor appealed to the Ministry of Property and Land Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, which forwarded the documents to the court.

      Earlier it was reported that a huge landfill of solid household waste covering 2.88 hectares was discovered in the Krasnooktyabrsky District.
