"Couldn't agree": Nizhny Novgorod man shot two acquaintances in a drunken quarrel.

      A resident of Nizhny Novgorod shot dead two acquaintances with a sawn-off shotgun after a drunken quarrel in an apartment on Lyuba Shevtsova Street in the Avtozavodsky district.

      According to preliminary information from law enforcement, a group of three men were drinking alcohol when an argument broke out between them. One of the participants — previously convicted of property crimes — went to his garage, where he kept a sawn-off hunting shotgun. Returning, he fired twice. The owner of the apartment and his guest died at the scene.

      Neighbors heard the shots and called the police. The suspect was detained in less than an hour. A search of his garage turned up the weapon, which was sent for examination.

      The Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod Region has opened a criminal case into the double murder under paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of two persons). The accused faces up to life imprisonment. The court will soon decide on a preventive measure against him.

      As reported by the Nizhny Novgorod Region Prosecutor's Office, the agency is overseeing the investigation. Investigators continue to establish all the circumstances of the incident and collect evidence.

      The detainee explained his actions as follows: "We couldn't agree, had to get rid of them."

      Earlier it was reported that two residents of Dzerzhinsk were sent to a penal colony for the fatal beating of an acquaintance out of jealousy.
