The Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation held a round table in Vyksa dedicated to the development of the tourism sector in the region’s southeastern districts. The event brought together more than 60 entrepreneurs and representatives of local governments from 11 municipalities: Pavlovsky, Bogorodsky, Vachsky, Sosnovsky, Diveyevsky and Voznesensky municipal districts, as well as the urban districts of Vyksa, Kulebaki, Arzamas, Navashinsky and Perevozsky.
The Development Corporation presented its experience in developing tourism infrastructure in the northern municipalities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, where a concept for a tourism cluster has been formed, envisaging an expansion of accommodation and dining options, creation of new routes for road travelers and gastronomic tours.
“The ‘round table’ format has already proven itself in the northern municipalities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Following two previous meetings that gathered more than 70 people, a number of entrepreneurs decided to open new hotels, and interaction between authorities and businesses was established in terms of creating unified routes and a tourism development concept. I am confident that the event in Vyksa will become a starting point for the emergence of new attractions in the southeast of the region,” said Sergey Makarov, head of the Investment Project Support Directorate.
Also as part of the round table, current state support measures for agritourism projects and the restoration of cultural heritage sites were presented, along with practices for developing tourism infrastructure and creating an events program in Arzamas.
In addition, entrepreneurs shared their own tourism experience — for example, they talked about the development of industrial tourism in Vyksa and agritourism in the Pavlovsky district.
At present, the region has developed universal investment proposals — projects with calculated parameters that require minimal preparatory work from potential investors. Currently four such tourism proposals are available to investors: the creation of a tourist complex with a glamping hotel, roadside service facilities, a tourist complex with modular houses, and the adaptation of cultural heritage sites into hotels.
Recall that the national project “Tourism and Hospitality,” initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, is the successor to the national project “Tourism and the Hospitality Industry.” It envisages the development of infrastructure, production of equipment, training of personnel for the tourism sector, promotion of travel within Russia, as well as ensuring quality service and safe, convenient trips.
