Participants of "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" donated blood for blood typing.
22 September 2025 16:00 Society Participants in the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program joined a blood-typing campaign aimed at replenishing the Federal Register of potential bone marrow donors. The event took place on 22 September at the Corporate University of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Among the participants were SVO veterans Alexander Kuritsyn and Alexander Minov.
The campaign was coordinated by physician-methodologist Valery Loginov of the N.Ya. Klimova Nizhny Novgorod Regional Blood Center, who is also part of the "Heroes" program.
Participants underwent a free blood-typing procedure and received consultations from Elena Sidorova, an employee of the Nizhny Novgorod Blood Service.
It was previously reported that the Federal Register contains more than 490,000 potential donors. The more there are, the higher the chances of recovery for those in need. For patients with severe blood disorders, a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor is often the only chance of survival. Finding a suitable donor is extremely difficult: the probability of a match is approximately 1 in 10,000.
Any healthy person aged 18 to 45 with no contraindications to blood donation can become a potential bone marrow donor.
