Gorodets Gubernatorial College student Daniil Belov took second place in the competency "Design and Operation of Autonomous Unmanned Underwater Vehicles / Remotely Operated Unmanned Underwater Vehicles" in the final of the High Technologies Championship, which was held in Veliky Novgorod from 17 to 21 September.
The competition brought together more than 15,000 people from different regions of Russia and 26 friendly countries. Competitors vied in 15 innovative competencies related to ensuring national security and the development of dual-use technologies.
A greeting to the competitors was sent by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. He noted that the championship united determined, gifted youth and provided an excellent opportunity for young people from many regions of the country to demonstrate their knowledge and competencies and to engage in solving current creative and engineering tasks. The greeting was read by the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Sergey Kravtsov, who also noted that in its three years the championship has become a platform for the development of domestic innovative solutions.
"These are competitions in promising areas that attract more and more contestants each year. I want to congratulate all participants, finalists and, of course, the winners. You are great, the future of our country! The High Technologies Championship was held across 15 competencies and brought together around 15,000 participants. We see that the young people who became winners then return to their colleges, become championship experts, and join industry," said Sergey Kravtsov.
As emphasized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the popularity of the championship movement among students of vocational secondary education (SPO) is growing every year. Thus, last year only two students participated in the championship, while this year six people in six competencies competed for the podium.
"The scale of the championship underscores the prestige of professions at the intersection of science, technology, artificial intelligence and information systems. The education sector in our region does not stand still. While Nizhny Novgorod residents demonstrated their skills in Veliky Novgorod, preparatory courses for future competitors have already started in colleges and technical schools. The continuous increase in the pace and quality of training gives confidence that our students will be able to achieve new victories," said the Minister of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Mikhail Puchkov.
The Nizhny Novgorod Region was represented by six students from colleges and technical schools across six competencies: Roman Burmistrov (Borsky Gubernatorial College) — "Fiber‑Optic Communication Technologies for Unmanned Aerial Systems"; Daniil Belov (Gorodets Gubernatorial College) — "Design and Operation of Autonomous Unmanned Underwater Vehicles / Remotely Operated Unmanned Underwater Vehicles"; Timofey Bakushkin (Vyksa Metallurgical College named after A.A. Kozeradsky) — "Service Engineer for Industrial Equipment in Industry 4.0"; Nikita Mokeev (Lukoyanov Gubernatorial College) — "Intelligent Agricultural Production Systems"; Kirill Abrosimov (Perevoz Construction College) — "Cyberimmune Autonomy"; Alexander Gromov (Nizhny Novgorod Radio Engineering College) — "Digital Twin."
In total, more than 100 medals were awarded to the winners and prize-winners of the High Technologies Championship final.
"Second place in my specialty is indeed a success; I will definitely continue to develop my skills in this field. I have already determined the vector of my professional development, and now I will devote all my time to developing in the management and design of underwater drones. This will help to learn more about the world around us, on the one hand, and elevate the technological level of protecting our borders, on the other," said Daniil Belov.
Recall that the High Technologies Championship is an experimental design bureau for new professions; competitions are held in innovative competencies demanded by high‑tech production and the digital economy. The championship is part of the All‑Russian championship movement in professional mastery "Professionals." The organizer is the Ministry of Education of Russia, the federal operator is the Institute for the Development of Vocational Education. Competitions are held within the framework of the federal project "Professionalitet" of the national project "Youth and Children."
The national project "Youth and Children" has been implemented on the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin since 2025. It includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia — Land of Opportunity," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creation of a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for a Generation of Leaders," and "Professionalitet."
