      At the end of the coming work week, a sharp deterioration in the weather is expected in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. According to meteorologist and lead specialist at the Phobos weather center Evgeny Tishkovets, the region will see downpours and wet snow.

      As the specialist reported on his Telegram channel, the change will be caused by a North Atlantic cyclone named "Bernward." It will bring a cold atmospheric front that will cover Central Russia and mark the transition to a new climatic season.

      According to the forecast, rains will begin in the region as early as Wednesday, and air temperatures will fall to +10°C. By Friday, weather conditions could worsen significantly.

      Especially heavy precipitation is expected on the last weekend of September. According to Tishkovets, in a number of oblasts, including Nizhny Novgorod, precipitation may fall as wet snow. Also at risk are Moscow, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Ryazan, Penza and Ulyanovsk oblasts, as well as the republics of Tatarstan, Chuvashia and Mordovia.

      The meteorologist clarified that a local cyclone will form over the Volga region in midweek, which will intensify due to Arctic air. It will then begin moving toward the Meshchera. As a result of the clash between moist air masses and cold northern flows, precipitation in the form of wet snow is possible.

      "On Friday in the Middle Volga and the Volga-Vyatka region, and on Saturday — in the Upper Volga, and in the north and east of Central Russia, wet snow showers may mix into the rain fronts," the forecaster noted.

      Earlier it was reported that a sharp cold snap is forecast for Nizhny Novgorod.
