Gleb Nikitin's congratulatory message on Forestry Workers' Day

      The Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, congratulated specialists in the forestry and wood-processing industries on their professional holiday.

      “Dear workers of the forestry sector! I congratulate you on your professional holiday!” the head of the region said in his address.

      Gleb Nikitin noted that forests are the most important natural resource and one of the main assets of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. They provide raw materials for various sectors of production, and their preservation and augmentation depend on the professionalism and care of industry workers.

      According to the governor, thanks to the efforts of forestry specialists, a responsible attitude toward nature is being formed in the region, and an effective system of forest management and rational timber consumption is being developed. Increasing numbers of residents, including young people and eco-volunteers, are taking part in environmental campaigns and clean-up days. Just within the framework of the “Garden of Memory” campaign this year, about 450,000 trees were planted.

      The head of the region emphasized the importance of the work of state hunting inspectors, who are engaged in protecting and restoring populations of wild animals, fighting poaching, and monitoring species numbers. This activity plays an important role in preserving biodiversity and ecological balance in the forests.

      To improve the effectiveness of forestry services, specialized equipment, vehicles, and firefighting equipment are purchased annually. A unique system for video monitoring of forest fires using long-range drones has been created in the region, with no analogues not only in the Volga Federal District but beyond. This equipment allows for prompt response to emergencies and effective prevention of natural disasters.

      The governor also noted that substantial support for forestry workers is provided under the national project “Environmental Well‑being.”

      “On this festive day I wish all forestry sector workers good health, optimism, success, and well‑being!” added Gleb Nikitin.
