Repair of a one-kilometre section of the Moscow Highway has been completed in Nizhny Novgorod.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, repairs have been completed on a section of Moskovskoye Highway about one kilometer long — from the descent from the metro bridge overpass to the turn onto Sormovskoe Highway. This was reported on his social media by the city head, Yuri Shalabaev.

      The mayor noted that rutting on the road was eliminated, new asphalt was laid, technical sidewalks were installed, and thermoplastic road markings were applied. According to him, the contractor is now finishing the installation of road signs. Yuri Shalabaev emphasized that an important transport artery, which handles a flow of thousands of cars daily, has been brought into good condition.

      He also recalled that two years ago an almost seven-kilometer repair was carried out — from the "Moskva" cinema to the city exit, including the overpass over Kuzbasskaya Street, and earlier another section of about 2 km was renewed. Plans include the construction of an additional overpass by the cinema.

      The municipal autonomous institution "Main Directorate for the Construction and Repair of the Metro, Bridges and Road Networks" clarified that on this stretch pavement milling was carried out and a strengthening layer (lower) and a wearing course (upper) were installed. First Deputy Director of the MUI "GUMMiD" Ilya Kurpatov explained that due to the high traffic on Moskovskoye Highway and transit traffic toward Moscow, rutting used to form before the repairs. Major work was carried out mainly at night to minimize inconvenience to residents.

      At the same time, repairs of the city's street and road network are continuing under the national project "Infrastructure for Life." Deputy head of the Nizhny Novgorod administration Anton Maksimov said that this year's plan included 9 roads and 1 overpass. Five roads are being commissioned in 2025, with their readiness at about 80%.

      The remaining projects are being carried out under a rolling contract and will be delivered next year. Work has already been completed on Lenin Avenue, Gagarin Avenue and Reshetnikovskaya Street; on Yablonevaya Street, the application of markings and installation of signs is being finished. Repairs on Tsentralnaya Street in the Novinki settlement are on schedule and will be completed by mid-October.
