On 16 September participants of the motor rally along the route Moscow – Vladimir – Nizhny Novgorod – Samara visited the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Guests were introduced to the region’s tourist potential and shown such landmark attractions as the Lower Volga Embankment, the Chkalov Staircase, the Kremlin and Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street. In addition, the rally participants visited the Pustynsky protected reserve in the Arzamas District.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 13 crews are taking part in the motor rally — more than 40 people: tourism industry experts, representatives of federal ministries, professional car travelers and bloggers.
“Road trips across the Nizhny Novgorod land are a chance to see ‘100% real Russia,’ feel its soul, get acquainted with unique traditions and crafts, architectural monuments and nature of incredible beauty. We note that every year more and more tourists set off on trips by car. According to mobile operators, from January to August the flow of car tourists to the Nizhny Novgorod Region exceeded the figure for the same period last year by 20%,” said Minister of Tourism and Crafts Sergey Yakovlev.
According to the rally organizers, participants will travel more than 1,700 km on the roads of eight regions of the country. They will draw conclusions about what contributes to or, conversely, hinders the development of car tourism in Russia.
Recall that the portal Puteshestvuem.rf hosts 108 automobile tourist routes, including in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, with a total length of 39,000 kilometers. The portal is being developed with the support of the new national project “Tourism and Hospitality.”
“Our trip is not recreational. Its goal is to talk with businesses and travelers about standards for roadside infrastructure, about safety and insurance during road trips. To see what has been created and what is being built for tourists, to hear about what will be done in the coming years and how the summer season went. Based on the results of the motor rally we will jointly establish benchmark requirements and diagnostic maps so that all automobile tourist routes are brought up to this new standard,” said rally participant Pavel Smelov, CEO of the Center for Strategic Development.
The national project “Tourism and Hospitality” has been implemented in the country since 2025 at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin and envisages the development of infrastructure, the production of equipment, the training of personnel for the tourism sector, the promotion of travel in Russia, as well as ensuring quality service and safe, comfortable trips.
