Map, benches and lilacs: how the area near the Avtozavodsky department store has been transformed

      The area by the Avtozavod department store in Nizhny Novgorod is now unrecognizable. "A shanty of tents," as Mayor Yuri Shalabaev put it, is a thing of the past. Now nothing spoils the view of the department store, which is a cultural heritage site.

      The space renovated under the national project "Infrastructure for Life" was opened recently. Rest areas were created, swings were installed, and new lighting was put in. Linden trees, lilacs, hydrangeas and spireas were planted. And opposite the department store a landmark appeared — a granite map of Avtozavod.
