MegaFon erases borders: you can add loved ones from across the country to MegaFamily

      The operator launches the ability to combine relatives from any regions into a MegaFamily. Now users can include members in a group regardless of their place of residence and share gigabyte, minute and SMS packages with them.

      Previously, MegaFamily owners could add friends and relatives — MegaFon subscribers — only from their own region or neighboring oblasts. The operator created a solution that made it possible to modify the service and gave customers the ability to add to the group participants who are registered in other regions as well. This is the first offering of this format among the country’s largest mobile operators.

      To enable the option a subscriber needs to go in the MegaFon app to the “MegaFamily” section, create one and enter the relative’s name and phone number.

      “Uniting close people from different regions on a single tariff is not only the implementation of a complex technical solution, but also the erasure of geographical boundaries for our customers. Now ‘MegaFamily’ helps optimize communications costs within a group, even if you live at opposite ends of the country. We are convinced that this solution will help our customers become even closer,” commented MegaFon’s Commercial Director Dmitry Rudskikh.

      MegaFon launched the “MegaFamily” service in April 2023. With it, the operator’s customers can add relatives and close ones to a group, and they will use shared internet, minute and SMS packages while not necessarily having to pay for the services. In addition, participants will have access to shared MegaForces — unlimited allowances for popular apps, unlimited calls to MegaFon, bonus GBs, additional packages of minutes and internet, and rollover of unused allowances. Up to five participants can be added to a MegaFamily, and additional gigabytes for each MegaFamily participant will be added to the tariff for free — up to 300 GB in total depending on the tariff.

      Since the beginning of the year the number of users actively sharing a tariff has grown by almost 25%. Most often — in 58% of cases — men become the organizers of a MegaFamily, and the most caring among them live in the Taimyr and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs, Chechnya, Dagestan and Magadan Oblast. The most active age for “creating” a MegaFamily, according to MegaFon analysts, is 35–44 years.
