Employees of the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Forestry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region received new equipment: 19 snowmobiles, four boats and two patrol vehicles. The regional ministry reported this.

The ceremonial handover took place on the eve of two professional dates — the Day of Hunting Economy Workers (September 13) and the Day of Forestry Workers (September 21). The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Ivan Kargin, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the region Evgeny Lyulin, his deputy Denis Bakiev, chairman of the Legislative Assembly committee on ecology and natural resources Vladislav Atmakhov, head of the Forestry Department for the Volga Federal District Eduard Leontyev, Minister of Forestry and Protection of Wildlife of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Roman Vorobyov, prosecutor of the Nizhny Novgorod Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office Yaroslav Serpukhov, as well as industry representatives.

Deputy Chairman of the Government of the region Ivan Kargin congratulated the specialists on their professional holiday. He recalled that Nizhny Novgorod’s forests cover more than 4 million hectares, and their preservation is ensured by more than a thousand employees of the ministry of forestry and subordinate institutions. Kargin emphasized that these are the people who must pass on knowledge to young specialists and form a personnel reserve. He thanked the workers for their daily service for the benefit of the region, its residents and future generations.

On the eve of the professional holiday, 212 industry employees received federal and regional awards from the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Legislative Assembly and the relevant ministry. The best lessees of forest plots and hunting rights holders were also recognized.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Evgeny Lyulin noted that for the first time in the region’s history honorary titles were awarded to distinguished workers of the forestry and hunting sectors. In his words, this is evidence of the high recognition of the work of those who safeguard the region’s forest wealth. He stressed that modern equipment, drones, a video monitoring system and the selfless labor of specialists make it possible to effectively conserve and increase resources. The region leads the Volga Federal District in reforestation: last year 13 thousand hectares were restored — almost a third more than the district average — and nearly 6 thousand hectares of new land were transferred to the forest fund. This result was achieved thanks to the cooperation of the legislative authorities, the government and industry workers, which allows the region to be among the country’s leading regions.

Chairman of the Legislative Assembly committee on ecology Vladislav Atmakhov added that the forests and wildlife of the Nizhny Novgorod region require special care. He noted that the work of hunting and forestry specialists helps preserve natural riches, restore forests and maintain animal populations. The honorary titles introduced in the region — "Honored Worker of the Hunting Economy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" and "Honored Worker of the Forestry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" — underline the importance of their efforts, raise the prestige of the professions, stimulate development and attract young people, creating a basis for a sustainable future.

Minister of Forestry and Protection of Wildlife of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Roman Vorobyov emphasized the importance of the hunting sector for the region. He noted that thanks to the work of state hunting inspectors it is possible to preserve rare animal species, maintain order in the hunting grounds and create conditions for the sector’s development. According to him, specialists solve complex tasks every day: they protect and reproduce wild animals, combat poaching and monitor population numbers. Development is supported by constant technical renewal: today a ceremonial handover of 19 new snowmobiles and four boats took place. This will make it possible to more effectively preserve biodiversity and maintain ecological balance in the region’s forest areas.

The federal project "Forest Conservation," as part of the national project "Environmental Well‑being," also helps achieve the goals of the forestry and hunting sectors: this year the region plans to restore forests on an area of 14 thousand hectares.

Earlier it was reported that artificial intelligence will help detect fires and illegal logging in Nizhny Novgorod forests.
