Excavation of the second metro tunnel from Sennaya Square is running ahead of schedule.

      The Metroschit company’s TBM "Vladimir" has reached the ventilation chamber at the Schastye shopping center on Belinsky Street in Nizhny Novgorod.

      As reported on the "MetroNN" Telegram channel, the driving of the second tunnel from Sennaya Square is ahead of schedule. Over the past month the tunnel-boring complex has advanced more than 300 meters. To date, over 460 rings of reinforced-concrete lining have been installed, and "Vladimir" is at the 650-meter mark.

      According to the plan, specialists are beginning a scheduled inspection of Vladimir’s cutting tools. On the construction site at the shopping center, utility networks have already been reconfigured, secant bored-pile retaining structures have been installed, and site grading has been completed. Underground scheduled works are being carried out at a depth of about 20 meters, and after the shield passes, excavation of the pit and construction of the ventilation chamber will begin.

      According to the general contractor, the Mosproekt-3 Group, completion of the second tunnel is planned by the end of 2025. At Svobody Square a reinforced-concrete "pad" is currently being installed to receive the shield.

      Earlier it was reported that the TBM had passed half a kilometer of the second tunnel from Sennaya to Svobody Square.
