The largest number of tourists from the Nizhny Novgorod region who vacationed abroad in 2024–2025 chose Abkhazia and Turkey. In addition, interest in neighboring countries remains strong. This is the conclusion reached by analysts at mobile operator T2, who studied the activity of their subscribers abroad.
Abkhazia topped the ranking. The popularity of this country is explained by the ease of entry — Russian citizens only need an internal passport; a visa is not required. Turkey has long established itself as a resort country with a rich history and a warm climate.
Belarus currently ranks third. In 2025 T2 introduced new tariff conditions in the neighboring country, making unlimited internet more cost-effective for subscribers while traveling. When connecting to the network, customers can get 5 GB of mobile internet for 30 days under special terms: in the form of 1 GB packages costing 140 rubles each.
Egypt and Uzbekistan round out the top five, with the land of the pyramids rising higher compared to last year’s figures.
“We as an operator strive to ensure our customers stay connected at any point on the globe. Therefore, our roaming list includes 200 destinations, including Antarctica, as well as special conditions for the most frequently visited countries — for example, advantageous additional internet packages,” says Alexey Sidorov, director of T2’s “Volga” macro-region.
