The chairman of the board of the Nizhny Novgorod hockey club Torpedo and head of ANO "Center for Sports Management and Development in the Nizhny Novgorod Region," Maxim Gafurov, has joined the board of directors of the Kontinental Hockey League. The new structure was approved on September 11, the tournament's press service reported.
According to Gafurov, Torpedo's participation in the board of directors is of fundamental importance. He said that for the Nizhny Novgorod HC it is important to be part of the larger process and to take part in the main decisions for the League and its clubs.
"Our common task is to make hockey better and more interesting for fans every day," Gafurov noted.
The updated KHL board of directors includes 20 representatives: league executives, club leaders and members of the officiating corps. Gennady Timchenko was re-elected chairman.
It was reported that the KHL will pay Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo more than 80 million rubles.
