The Moskovsky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod has decided to change the measure of restraint in relation to the former head of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Alexander Paramonov. This was reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by the regional court press service.
From 5 September 2025 Alexander Paramonov will be under house arrest. This measure will last until and including 4 November.
Recall that Paramonov was detained on 12 March 2025 together with several of his subordinates. A criminal case has been opened against all the suspects. They have been charged under the article concerning receiving a bribe by an organized group on an especially large scale.
The investigation believes that from 2019 to 2025 Paramonov and his colleagues established a corruption scheme. For a fee, they allegedly ensured admission to a higher education institution and issued diplomas without real study.
Earlier it was reported that more than 1 billion rubles were recovered from former Nizhny Novgorod mayor Oleg Sorokin in favor of the state. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
