      The owner of the private house should take care of remedying the ground subsidence on Agronomicheskaya Street. That conclusion follows from the Sovetsky District administration’s response to the editorial office’s request.

      At the end of August, residents complained about ground subsidence next to building No. 174 on Agronomicheskaya Street in the Sovetsky District of Nizhny Novgorod. According to preliminary data, the cause was the washout of a well located at that spot. Local residents appealed to various authorities to eliminate the sinkhole, but, they say, there was no response.

      The editorial office of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" sent a request to the Sovetsky District administration. There they explained that the utilities beneath the plot where the subsidence occurred are owned by the owner of the residential building to which they are connected. Consequently, the restoration work should be carried out by the owner. The administration added that, as a temporary measure, the plot was filled with crushed stone.

      Earlier it was reported that the sinkhole on Dargomyzhsky Street in Nizhny Novgorod has not been repaired for more than a month.
