      The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over the brutal beating of an elderly woman in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the press service of the law enforcement agency reported.

      Recall that the horrific incident took place in the settlement named after Timiryazev in the Gorodetsky municipal district. Two teenagers tormented the pensioner for three days. They shaved her completely bald and beat her with particular cruelty. The woman was hospitalized with fractures of her ribs and legs.

      The police opened a criminal case for intentional infliction of harm to health. It turned out that the parents of the suspects are registered with the authorities. The mother of one of the perpetrators has long been under the supervision of the guardianship authorities.

      Later the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Bastrykin, took an interest in the incident. He instructed the regional investigative department of the agency to open a case and report to him on the investigation.

      On the afternoon of September 8 it became clear that a criminal case had nevertheless been opened — under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, "Hooliganism."
