An open day for Avtozavodsky schoolchildren was held at the Maksim Nastin Center for Military-Patriotic Education.
An open day for Avtozavod schoolchildren was held at the Maksim Nastin Center for Military-Patriotic Education. During the introductory tours, the children not only learned about the center’s various programs and training directions but also got to try a parachute jump simulator and try themselves as operators of unmanned aerial vehicles. This was reported by the Department of Social Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod City Administration.
According to the city department director Galina Gurenko, the Center for Military-Patriotic Education “grew out of” the “I Want to Become a Paratrooper” camp, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.
“The idea to create the center arose after a meeting between the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Vladimirovich Shalabaev, and the pupils of the military-patriotic camp, who expressed a desire to continue the activities conducted in the summer into the autumn-winter period. Thus, by the mayor’s decision in October 2022, the Center for Military-Patriotic Education appeared in the Nizhegorodsky district, winning enormous popularity among schoolchildren. Last year, also at the initiative of the city head, a branch of the center opened in the Prioksky district, and this year an Avtozavod branch has already appeared. Military-patriotic education is very, very important and responsible work. Our children must know their history, be proud of their Motherland and know that they live in the best country in the world,” Galina Gurenko said.
The head of the Avtozavodsky district administration, Alexander Nagin, noted that the appearance of such centers matters not only for Avtozavod but for the whole city.
“The center located in the Avtozavodsky district is, without doubt, the most modern and well-equipped. It plays a huge role in fostering patriotism among our youth and children. Here comprehensive military training is carried out, built on love for one’s Homeland,” he added.
As part of the event, excursions and introductory classes were organized for the children on UAV operation, 3D modeling, airborne, drill and canine training, as well as sword fighting and weapon assembly/disassembly. Everything took place under the supervision of experienced instructors from the Center for Military-Patriotic Education.
The most popular direction was the UAV operators’ school. According to instructor Ivan Khodin, training in operating “drones” is very relevant and may be useful to the children not only during military service but also in civilian life.
“For children it is a wonderful opportunity for self-realization, as the state actively supports education in this area. Students can immediately apply the knowledge gained in practice and achieve significant results. For example, they can take part in drone racing competitions or UAV programming Olympiads. Our classes are integrated into the school curriculum, and by studying electronics, the children will more quickly master physics and get good grades. Classes on neural networks and programming will also help them achieve better results in computer science,” the instructor said.
The event left the children impressed.
“This is my first time here, I like everything very much. I managed to jump on the parachute simulator and assemble a Kalashnikov assault rifle. Before this, I didn’t know how it is constructed, how it is assembled and disassembled. The jump on the trainer is very similar to the real thing. It was really cool! I would like to parachute for real! I will definitely sign up for classes at the center,” said Egor Kalinin.
“I really liked that you can fly drones here at the center. I was also impressed by the VR parachute flight! The center’s level is quite high, it’s innovative, modern. I think such a center is necessary for today’s youth,” said schoolboy Grigory Serov.
“A feature of the Avtozavod branch is that we accept children with disabilities. We have created conditions that allow such children to be trained both in UAV operation and in airborne preparation. Everything will be adapted depending on each student’s abilities. The open day is a great chance for young people to learn about our activities and find out how to become part of our team. In September we plan to fill the already formed groups, and from October 1 classes will begin according to the set schedule,” emphasized the head of the Maksim Nastin Center for Military-Patriotic Education, Alexander Naydenov.
All classes at the Center are free. You can sign up for clubs and sections by submitting an application at any branch of the Center or by phone: 8(831) 430–03–02 (Nizhegorodskoye branch), 8(831) 214–61–87 (Priokskoye branch), 8(831) 422–40–43 (Avtozavod branch of the CMPE). The club schedules can be viewed in the Center’s official group on VKontakte.
