The traditional board game festival "Pechenka" served as a continuation of the ceremonial school assemblies and a "tasty" finale to the Day of Knowledge. It was an anniversary event, the tenth edition.
The festival's regular venue is the Central Park of Culture and Recreation. And on the festive evening it was hot here not only because of the weather, but also from the participants' emotions, excitement, and impressions. At the very beginning, the traditional autograph session was held by Dzerzhinsk mayor Mikhail Klinkov and his deputy Margarita Bannikova.
In total, the Youth Center "Sputnik" (the main organizer of "Pechenka") presented 35 games. "Dobble," "Who Am I?," "Exploding Kittens," "Sleeping Queens," "Imaginarium," "Monopoly," "Memo" and many other board games — tests of dexterity, speed, attentiveness, and, of course, intellect. The Ecological and Biological Center invited visitors to its "Eco-Games" location, which featured puzzles and memory games related to the animal and plant life of the I.N. Ilyashevich Dendropark, plus a roll-and-move game themed around saving the environment. There was also a venue with inclusive games from the "Vera" club for people with disabilities.
A festival novelty was a robot dog that delighted the kids by obeying commands like "sit," "give paw," "jump," and others.
"Pechenka" appeals to all ages. Although it's intended as a festival for children, adults also take part with great pleasure.
"Last year I couldn't make it here, and I was upset. Because it's wonderful here! I like learning about new games and meeting new people," smiles 28-year-old Anastasia Talagaeva.
"In our family it has become a tradition to go to Pechenka on September 1," says ninth-grader Ivan Kozlov. "My younger brother and I always invite friends and we have a great time together!"
The gaming battles lasted four hours. Volunteers worked at each location to explain the rules. All those who wished, after receiving the appropriate token, took part in the final prize draw — board games, certificates, and other gifts from Pechenka's partners.
"A great start to the school year! I'm at Pechenka for the first time, and I liked it a lot," Mikhail Klinkov shared his impressions. "Board games bring people together. They're a wonderful way to distract our children from gadgets, to talk with them, and to feel a close emotional bond. I see that many came with their families and in groups. I signed postcards, diaries, and notebooks for the kids. It was so nice to write kind wishes. If they all come true, our Dzerzhinsk will have even more talented young people!"
