A quarantine for animal rabies has been introduced in the village of Melyaevo in the Kulebaki urban district of Nizhny Novgorod Region. This is stated in the governor's decree of 4 September 2025.

According to the document, the village has been designated a problematic locality, and the epizootic focus is the hunting grounds within a one-kilometer radius of the coordinates 55.395681, 42.973696.

Within the epizootic focus it is prohibited to treat sick susceptible animals, to move them, to regroup them, as well as to hunt, except for population control measures. It is forbidden to export susceptible animals, except those being sent for slaughter or vaccinated within the established period. Catching wild animals for transfer to zoos is also prohibited.

At the same time, by another decree of the regional head, the previously effective quarantine in the Sechenovsky municipal district has been lifted. As of 2 September, the restrictions introduced in the village of Krasny Ostrov in March have been lifted. At that time a fox with rabies was found in the vicinity of the settlement.
