A man and a woman were burned alive in a residential building in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
According to the information, the tragic incident occurred in the village of Channikovo in the Voskresensky district. The fire, covering an area of 138 square meters, was extinguished by 15 EMERCOM specialists.
The agency clarified that the identities of the deceased are being established. Two people were reported injured; they were taken to hospital by ambulance.
The cause of the incident will be determined by EMERCOM investigators.
Earlier it was reported that a firefighter died in the Sovetsky district of Nizhny Novgorod. He was involved in extinguishing a blaze on Beketov Street.
