Scammers have come up with a new way to deceive Russians, impersonating company executives and the official "Gosuslugi" service. RIA Novosti reports.

Fraudsters create fake work chats allegedly on behalf of top managers of organizations. In the correspondence they claim that the employee archive needs to be transferred to electronic media and dismissed employees removed from the system.

As confirmation of the "data update" they ask employees to go through a procedure via a fake Telegram bot designed to look like the official "Gosuslugi" service.

The user is asked to follow a link, press the start button and enter their phone number. Then a six-digit code arrives on the victim's phone via SMS, which the scammers ask them to forward to the chat or a private message — on the pretext that without it the digitization will not be completed.

As soon as the person provides the code, the criminals gain access to their personal account on "Gosuslugi".

Meanwhile, since June 1 a law has been in effect in Russia aimed at strengthening the protection of citizens from scammers. The document includes about 30 measures that are being implemented in stages. It is already prohibited for employees of state bodies, banks and telecom operators to use messaging apps to communicate with clients.

Also recall that since August 1 Russians have had the right to opt out of advertising SMS messages. And from September 1 it will be possible to opt out of spam calls.

Also from September citizens will be able to use "Gosuslugi" to prohibit SIM cards from being registered in their name.
