      Vladimir Putin supported the governor’s idea to give regions the authority to fully ban vapes and to implement this initiative in pilot form in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin supported the initiative:

      – An absolute majority of deputies support a full ban on the sale of vapes. The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region appealed to the President with this request, proposing to give regions the right to make such decisions. Similar initiatives have previously been voiced by heads of other subjects of the Russian Federation, including the Vologda region, as well as by parents and teachers.

      Our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin supported it.

      We have discussed this topic with you. The survey involved 265 thousand people, of whom 74 percent were in favor of a complete ban on the sale of vapes and e-liquids for them.

      Since 2023, the sale of electronic devices for consuming nicotine-containing products to minors has been prohibited. Fines for such an offense have been increased. Criminal liability has been introduced for repeated sales to minors.

      At the same time, we see that these measures are not enough.

      Deputies of the State Duma from various factions have submitted legislative initiatives for a complete ban on vapes, but until today they have not found support in the Government.

      After the President’s decision, within the next two months we will move to adopt a bill.

      Vapes and other electronic cigarettes harm human health and can lead to serious diseases.

      By the way, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region decided to send an appeal to Vyacheslav Volodin with the initiative to give regions the right to fully prohibit the sale of vapes on their territory.

      The regional parliament unanimously supported Governor Gleb Nikitin’s proposal to transfer powers to the regions to introduce a complete ban on the sale of vapes. After changes to federal legislation, the regional Legislative Assembly is ready to consider the issue of a legislative ban on the sale of vapes as a priority.
