New beds and soft furnishings were purchased for medical institutions in Dzerzhinsk. According to the Ministry of Health of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, about 25.5 million rubles from the regional budget were allocated for these purposes.
To date, more than 80 functional and about 600 standard medical beds have been delivered to the city’s healthcare facilities. They are equipped with new mattresses and pillows, and nearly 1,500 sets of new bedding have been additionally purchased. Blankets are also expected to be delivered to hospitals in the near future. All products were manufactured by enterprises in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
The ministry recalled that the decision to renew the region’s bed stock in medical and social institutions was made by the governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Gleb Nikitin. In total, nearly 775 million rubles were allocated for these purposes to make patients’ stays in inpatient facilities more comfortable.
City Hospital No. 2 in Dzerzhinsk has been supplied with over 140 new standard beds with mattresses, as well as 50 functional beds — they are delivered fully equipped, including mattresses with covers, side rails and overbed trapeze devices. In addition, almost 560 sets of bedding have been purchased for the facility.
According to the hospital’s chief physician, Dmitry Kochetygov, the renewal of the bed stock was the first step in modernizing the inpatient facility.
“The new beds have already been installed in the wards, and many of our patients have appreciated their comfort. At the same time, we will gradually renovate the departments. With the support of the regional Ministry of Health and the regional government, the hospital will undergo a major renovation for the first time in 40 years. The design and estimate documentation is already being developed,” Dmitry Kochetygov said.
City Hospital No. 7 is equipped with almost 270 standard and functional beds, and nearly 530 sets of bedding have also been purchased. The furniture and soft furnishings are intended for the therapeutic, otorhinolaryngology (ENT), neurological and gynecological departments, as well as the intensive care unit.
City Children’s Hospital No. 8, in turn, received 80 standard beds with mattresses and pillows, 10 functional beds, and 160 sets of bedding.
Furniture and necessary soft furnishings were also delivered to the Dzerzhinsk Tuberculosis Dispensary, the Dzerzhinsk A.M. Samarin War Veterans’ Hospital, and City Hospital No. 1.
“For each patient, the conditions in which they receive treatment are extremely important. New furniture and a cozy environment have a positive effect on the rehabilitation process and the emotional state of patients,” the ministry summarized.
It should be recalled that continuous work to improve the quality of medical care in the region is being carried out within the framework of the national project “Prolonged and Active Life,” which has been implemented in the country since 2025 at the instruction of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. The new national project fulfills tasks previously set out in the national project “Healthcare.” It is aimed at an expected increase in life expectancy by 2030 and envisages further upgrades of polyclinics, outpatient clinics and feldsher-midwife stations; attracting more qualified medical personnel to healthcare institutions; applying new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases; improving emergency medical care and the rehabilitation system; developing a network of national research centers; and digitizing the sector.
