The driver of a Gazelle caused an accident with injuries near Balakhna.

      Incidents

      A serious road traffic accident occurred on the highway between Krasny Mys and Gnilitskiye Dvoriki near Balakhna.

      According to the regional traffic police department, the accident happened at 6:33 a.m. on September 2. The driver of a GAZ-2790 ("Gazelle"), a man born in 1962, was traveling toward Dzerzhinsk. While attempting to turn left he did not ensure the maneuver was safe and collided with a Mazda that was coming toward him from Dzerzhinsk.

      From the impact, one of the metal parts of the Gazelle flew off and struck a nearby VAZ-11730, whose driver was born in 1953.

      As a result of the crash, the Gazelle’s driver himself was injured, as was his passenger, born in 1976. In addition, the Mazda driver, born in 1989, and two of his passengers, born in 1991 and 1996, were injured. All the injured were taken to the Central District Hospital of the city of Balakhna.

      According to the traffic police, there were no signs of alcohol intoxication in the drivers. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified.

      Earlier it was reported that six road accidents occurred in Nizhny Novgorod over the past weekend, resulting in the death of one teenager and injuries to six other people.
