      Earth has been hit by a series of strong geomagnetic storms caused by a powerful ejection of solar plasma. TV channel "360" investigated how to get through such days and reduce unpleasant symptoms.

      According to the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, disturbances of the magnetic field began on the evening of September 1 at 23:00 Moscow time. The peak occurred in the middle of September 2, and the weakening is not expected before September 3.

      Scientists note that the current solar activity has become the most noticeable since August 26. Observations with the coronagraphs LASCO and CCOR-1 showed a cloud of plasma moving toward Earth. The danger lies not in a single ejection but in a series of repeated ones, as happened in May 2024, when several moderately powerful flares led to the strongest geomagnetic storm in two decades.

      The main problem with such phenomena is a deterioration in the well-being of some people. They complain of weakness, irritability, and a loss of strength. Common symptoms include:

      • headaches, dizziness, ringing in the ears;

      • decreased appetite and reduced performance;

      • difficulty with physical exertion and increased drowsiness;

      • heart rhythm disturbances;

      • muscle and joint pain.

      At the same time, such storms do not pose a danger to life, emphasized therapist and cardiologist Olga Minina. She noted that medications can alleviate the symptoms.

      People with cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and mental disorders — depression, neuroses, bipolar disorder — are at particular risk. Sometimes patients with circulatory disorders are also included, but this has not been definitively confirmed.

      A doctor believes it is impossible to fully prepare for a geomagnetic storm. However, it is quite realistic to ease its impact.

      "For example, it is worth resting more, avoiding unnecessary strain, minimizing stress, drinking enough water and consuming foods with magnesium and potassium or taking them in tablet form," Minina advised.

      She also recommended avoiding alcohol, coffee, energy drinks, and fatty, spicy and salty foods.

      A contrast shower, swimming, vitamins and a full night's sleep of at least seven to eight hours in a cool room will help support the body.
