A festival called "Guests Formed a Round Dance at Semyonov's Gates" will be held in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      On September 6, as part of the City Day celebrations in Semenov, Nizhny Novgorod Region, the festival-meeting "Russian Gathering 'At the Semenov Gates the Guests Formed a Round Dance'" (suitable for all ages) will take place. The event is being organized with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the administration of the Semenovsky municipal district reported.

      The regional Ministry of Tourism and Crafts explained that holding events in places where traditional crafts are practiced contributes to the development of tourism, which is one of the main goals of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality."

      The official opening will take place on September 6 at 11:00 on Lenin Square in Semenov. The festival is built around an extensive cultural and entertainment program. The thematic zones will showcase the key directions of Russian folk culture. Throughout the day creative groups will perform, including the Cossack song ensemble "Kazachiy Khutor" from Nizhny Novgorod and the duet "Season of Love" from Moscow. The program will conclude with "Evening Revelry."

      Visitors will be able to learn about traditional folk crafts and the artisans' quarter at the "Semen-Artist" area. In the thematic zone "Semen — Master of Woodcraft" there will be a woodcarving masters' competition and a live chainsaw sculpture-making contest. Guests can take part in folk games and ride traditional Russian carousels at the "Semen's Amusements" site, and see the achievements of local life and activity at the "Semenovo Heritage" area.

      In the park next to the Center for Culture and Arts, at the "Semenovna the Cook" site, visitors can sample traditional Russian cuisine and try tea from a samovar, and nearby, in the thematic zone called "Semenovna the Dressmaker," there will be a fashion show of national Russian costumes and an exhibition of traditional Russian clothing. Festival-goers can learn about old Russian strength games and test their own strength and agility at the "Semen the Strong" site. Everyone will also have the opportunity to join a fencing master class and try old board games.

      Residents of Nizhny Novgorod and visitors to the region are invited to tours, exhibitions, interactive programs and master classes for the whole family at the Historical and Art Museum, the museum-tourist center "Golden Khokhloma" and the Museum of Folk Life "House of Semen the Spoonmaker." The Center for Culture and Arts will host a multi-genre exhibition "Semenov Artisans."

      Festival participants will also take part in sporting events. On Lenin Square there will be a zone for taking the GTO fitness tests and a venue for a family triathlon. On the stage by the fountain there will be a Zumba workout, demonstration performances in jumping fitness, dance and judo. The regional marathon "We Stand for a Healthy Lifestyle" will also begin there.

      As a reminder, the national project "Tourism and Hospitality" has been implemented in the country since 2025 at the initiative of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and envisages the development of infrastructure, production of equipment, training of personnel for the tourism sector, promotion of travel within Russia, as well as the provision of quality service and safe, comfortable trips.
