      Society — Metro builders have laid the first half-kilometer of the second tunnel from "Sennaya" to "Ploshchad Svobody" in Nizhny Novgorod, the Telegram channel of the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, reports.

      According to the regional head, the tunnel-boring complex "Vladimir" is moving toward the construction site of the ventilation chamber on Belinsky Street.

      Nikitin stressed that the pace of underground work remains high. In less than a month, the metro builders have laid more than 250 meters of tunnel and installed 190 reinforced concrete lining rings.

      The general contractor clarifies that tunneling is proceeding as normal. In the near future, the shield "Vladimir" will undergo a scheduled technical inspection. Approaching the section near a large business center, specialists will check the cutting tools of the cutterhead. During the maintenance operations the equipment will reduce speed, after which it will continue toward "Ploshchad Svobody."
