The Ministry of Social Policy of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast summed up the results of the charity campaign "Soon to School" — this year it was held in the region for the 11th time.
Representatives of various government bodies and the business community, as well as concerned residents, purchased school supplies for more than three thousand first-graders. Children from large, single-parent, low-income families, families in difficult life situations, as well as residents of social institutions received backpacks, stationery, clothing and shoes.
As the ministry reported, themed events prepared by integrated social service centers were held in all municipalities of the region as part of the campaign.
For example, at the rehabilitation center for adolescents with disabilities "Dom" in the Sormovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod there was a festive concert and six stations with various master classes. The children enjoyed a raffle with guaranteed prizes and sweet treats.
In the Navashinsky district, a sports event called "Physical Leisure" was held for first-graders, and in the Sosnovsky district a family bike ride was organized to mark the start of the new school year.
At the regional social rehabilitation center for minors "Brigantina," a Beauty Day was organized ahead of September 1 — a professional hairdresser-stylist worked with the wards.
An event as part of the "Soon to School" campaign was also held at the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Center for Social Development. A concert by the chamber orchestra "Soloists of Nizhny Novgorod" took place there. Monetary certificates from benefactors were presented to 45 low-income families raising first-graders.
The regional Ministry of Social Policy reminded that the "Soon to School" campaign also includes training sessions and consultations for adults, including seminars on school adaptation for parents of first-graders.
"Going to first grade for the first time is always nerve-wracking. Our campaign is organized so that children’s preparation for this event takes place with a sense of confidence. It is very gratifying that every year thousands of participants in the campaign — our partner organizations, socially oriented organizations and simply caring residents of Nizhny Novgorod — want to help children prepare for school. Together we can do more!" said Igor Sedykh, Minister of Social Policy of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
Recall that the "Soon to School" campaign is aimed at supporting families with children and strengthening family values in the region. This is one of the most important areas of work within the framework of the new national project "Family."
The national project "Family" has been implemented in Russia since 2025 at the initiative of the country's president, Vladimir Putin. It succeeds the previously implemented national projects "Demography" and "Culture" and includes measures that contribute to the comprehensive development of families: expanding support measures, creating conditions for active longevity of the older generation, and ensuring high-quality and accessible medical care.
