      A ceremonial unveiling of another themed tram took place in Nizhny Novgorod as part of the patriotic project "Wagon of Victory." This specially decorated tram car tells of the contribution of Gorky industrial enterprises — the Krasnoye Sormovo plant and the Sokol aircraft factory — to the Great Victory. The project is being implemented by the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the "Volunteers of Victory" movement with the support of the regional government.

      The new car will run in the Avtozavodsky district on tram route No. 12. This mobile "museum" will tell residents and visitors of the city about the labor feats of the people of Gorky, the workers of the Victory factories who supplied the front with equipment and shells.

      The exhibition on one side of the car is dedicated to the achievements of the Krasnoye Sormovo plant, which in a record one and a half months completely retooled production to manufacture military equipment. During the war years more than 13,000 T-34 tanks were produced. The plant also became the main forge of the submarine fleet: 27 of the 55 Soviet wartime submarines were built here. In addition to producing new equipment, the plant's workers returned more than 1,800 damaged tanks to service. For these feats Krasnoye Sormovo was awarded the Order of Lenin (1943) and the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st class (1945).

      "Sormovo residents were and remain patriots of their country and native city. The enterprise carefully preserves the memory of its heroic history. And we are glad that thanks to the Volunteers of Victory project hundreds of our fellow citizens will recall this history every day. An excellent, necessary project!" shared Margarita Finyukova, deputy director of the Krasnoye Sormovo Plant History Museum.

      The second part of the mobile exhibition is dedicated to the Sokol aircraft factory: the enterprise mass-produced LaGG-3 and La-5 fighters and one of the best late-war aircraft — the La-7, developed in the plant's own design bureau. Production rates in 1941 reached 24 aircraft per day. One in every four fighters produced in the USSR was assembled in Gorky.

      "The 'Wagon of Victory' project helps people connect with the glorious and heroic history of our city, which by presidential decree holds the high title of City of Labor Valor. The people of Gorky manufactured planes and tanks, shells, instruments, clothing and food. People worked 12-hour shifts in conditions of cold and hunger, at the limits of human endurance, to supply the front with everything necessary in a short time. It is our duty to ensure that every resident, especially the young, knows that here, in Gorky, the shield and sword of Victory were forged," said Maria Samodelkina, head of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of VOD "Volunteers of Victory."

      This is already the second Wagon of Victory tram running on city route No. 12 in the Avtozavodsky district of Nizhny Novgorod. In total, as part of the project in 2025, 14 tram cars and 5 subway cars will be unveiled in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
