Russia's best seamstress will be chosen in Nizhny Novgorod in September.

      On September 11–12, 2025, the federal stage of the All-Russian professional skills competition "Best in Profession" in the nomination "Best Seamstress" will be held in Nizhny Novgorod. The event is being conducted as part of the federal project "Person of Labor" of the national project "Personnel", implemented on the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with the aim of popularizing working professions, raising professional standards and identifying the most qualified specialists in their field.

      Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Yegor Polyakov noted the importance of this project for the region.

      "Holding the federal stage of the 'Best in Profession' competition in the Nizhny Novgorod Region underscores our status as one of Russia's leading industrial centers. The competition will feature the strongest masters, winners of the regional stages of the contest from more than 20 regions of Russia. The Nizhny Novgorod Region will be represented by an employee of the Brig company, Nadezhda Stepanova," said Yegor Polyakov.

      The organizer of the competition is the Department for Labor and Employment of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in partnership with the enterprise JSC Meridian.

      "This competition not only identifies the best specialists in the industry. It helps raise the prestige of working professions, which is important for the development of the region's and the country's economy as a whole. The profession of seamstress has for many years remained one of the most in-demand in the region's industry — today our employers need more than 2,300 specialists," emphasized the head of the Department for Labor and Employment of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Igor Pantyukhin.

      The competition will take place at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair venue. Masters will demonstrate knowledge of garment production technology, show skills in operating various equipment and the ability to troubleshoot. The competition program includes two stages — theoretical and practical. Participants will have to complete 50 test tasks, solve case problems, and also perform a practical assignment involving the finishing of different types of pockets.

      "Such events motivate specialists toward professional growth and the improvement of their skills. Participation in the competition is an opportunity to make a name for yourself, learn from colleagues and get acquainted with the latest trends in the industry," noted Lyudmila Yegorova, director of the Nizhny Novgorod Personnel Center "Work of Russia."

      Guests of the competition can expect an extensive program: master classes in embroidery, weaving and sewing; an exhibition-fair of light industry products; fashion shows featuring collections by designer Allegra Kazanovskaya and clothing designer Irina Moroz; as well as products from the First Weaving Factory and the Meridian enterprise; and a performance by the exemplary fashion theater "Zlatorusye." The event begins at 10:00.

      Recall that throughout its history the finals of the "Best in Profession" competition have been held in 45 regions of Russia: from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka. In 2025 the competition is being held across 20 nominations, in each of which winners receive monetary awards: 1st place — 1 million rubles, 2nd place — 500 thousand rubles, 3rd place — 300 thousand rubles.
