Residents of Nizhny Novgorod prepared a large consignment of humanitarian aid for schoolchildren in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. The organizers of the large-scale campaign were the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization (ANO) “Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region” and the regional headquarters of #WEARETOGETHER. Active support in collecting the humanitarian cargo was provided by the Semyonov-based fund for assistance to servicemen and their families “Dobrodel”, participants of the “Mnogodetnye Mamy” (Mothers of Large Families) project and “Women’s Leadership. Nizhny Novgorod Region”, as well as residents of the region.
The aid collection campaign is timed to coincide with the start of the new school year. Its main goal is to support the children of Donbass and help them prepare for September 1. The humanitarian cargo, which weighs more than 600 kilograms, contains everything necessary for schooling. The children were sent stationery (sketchpads, paints, pencils, pens, notebooks, and other items), school uniforms, and sweet gifts.
“For the children of Donbass, who have endured so many severe trials and continue to live in virtually frontline conditions, it is very important to feel the care and support of the entire country. By sending the children gifts, we send them our warmth and our belief that the new school year will bring academic successes and new opportunities. We thank every resident of Nizhny Novgorod who responded and helped collect this important cargo,” said Maria Samodelkina, General Director of the ANO “Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.”
The humanitarian cargo will be delivered to its destination in the coming days. Delivery and subsequent distribution to schools and families will be provided by the Dobrodel fund’s team.
“Helping Donbass families get their children ready for school is a very important and kind deed. We all know that preparing a child for school is a significant financial burden for families, especially in a crisis situation. That is why we actively joined this initiative,” said Elena Vorobyeva, head of the Dobrodel fund for assistance to servicemen and their families.
Since the beginning of 2025, the Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, together with partners, has sent nearly 850 tons of humanitarian aid to residents of border territories and fighters of the special military operation, as well as 36 units of transport, including off-road vehicles and motorcycles needed at the front.
