      On Knowledge Day, September 1, more than 144,000 schoolchildren in Nizhny Novgorod will sit at their desks. For 14,000 first-graders who are coming to school for the first time, the day will be especially important.

      Mayor Yuri Shalabaev congratulated residents on the start of the school year. He noted that September 1 accompanies a person throughout life: first children run to the assembly, later return as university students, then see off their own children and celebrate the holiday together with their grandchildren.

      "Congratulations on Knowledge Day to all the kids, teachers and parents! May the new school year bring everyone the joy of discoveries, new experiences and warm meetings!" Shalabaev wrote on his Telegram channel.

      It was previously reported that all educational institutions in Nizhny Novgorod are ready to receive children on September 1.
