      The mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, reported that he held the first meeting this season dedicated to preparing for the city's winter cleaning. He wrote about this on his social media.

      The mayor recalled that over recent years the system for winter street maintenance and quality control in Nizhny Novgorod has in effect been rebuilt. In particular, the fleet of equipment has been renewed, cleaning routes have become more logical, and the use of sand has been significantly reduced — it has been replaced by other anti-icing agents.

      "We do not forget about people. We carried out extensive work on wage indexation for employees of municipal road enterprises, and we repaired the work bases along with the rest areas," Shalabaev stressed.

      According to him, long-term forecasts for the winter of 2025–2026 remain contradictory for now. Nevertheless, city authorities intend to continue work in all the areas previously outlined.

      It was previously reported that last winter little snow fell in Nizhny Novgorod, so the funds saved on snow removal were directed to road repairs.
