Over six months, residents of Nizhny Novgorod purchased more than one million packages of antiviral drugs.
More than one million packages of antiviral drugs worth 622.9 million rubles were sold in the Nizhny Novgorod region from January through July 2025. This was reported by editor-in-chief of "Stacionar-press" Alexey Nikonov on his Telegram channel.
He noted that for the first time in two years a sharp increase in sales of antiviral drugs has been recorded in Russia. Nizhny Novgorod ranks 12th in the regions' "antiviral" rating.
"Consumption in package terms increased by 3.8% compared to 2024, while sales in monetary terms grew by 14.7%," Nikonov said, citing the analytics company RNC Pharma.
The most popular antiviral drug in Nizhny Novgorod is Kagocel (a 58% increase in ruble terms and 46% in package terms). The most popular unbranded antiviral in the Volga capital was Oseltamivir (a 46% increase in ruble terms and 34% in package terms).
Sales of Ingavirin rose by 10.6%. Meanwhile, sales of the once-popular Arbidol fell by 17%.
It was previously reported that residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region prefer Russian-made medicines.
