      A Nizhny Novgorod worker stole materials from the M-12 highway construction site for several years, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.

      According to the information, representatives of the developer filed a police report about the disappearance of anti-vandal devices intended to lock manhole covers, totaling 160 units. A criminal case was opened under the article "Theft." It turned out that the construction materials may have been stolen by one of the workers.

      During the search, locking devices and other property of the LLC stolen by the accused from the construction site were found in the 43-year-old worker's home. In 2023 the accused stole a plastic corrugated conduit coiled into a roll from the construction site, metal angles 2 and 3 meters long, and bitumen tapes. He also stole other construction materials. The worker committed the crimes during the period from 2023 to 2024. He pleaded guilty to the theft and said that he had intended to sell the stolen items in the future. The total value of the property amounted to about 1 million rubles. All construction materials were returned to the owner.
