711 backpacks with school kits as gifts from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast were delivered ahead of September 1 to first-graders in the sponsored territories in the Donetsk People’s Republic – to the Khartsyzk and Ilovaisk city districts and the Mangush municipal district. The region also delivered textbooks to two technical colleges in the Khartsyzk city district. The campaign was organized by the House of National Unity with the support of the government of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

“The first Day of Knowledge in a child’s life is always an emotional event for the family. For many parents, expenses for school supplies are a significant item in the budget. We want to support families so that the start of the school year becomes a real celebration for every first-grader. The House of National Unity, with the support of the government of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, has for years been sending such gifts to the sponsored territories. I want to wish all DPR schoolchildren success in their studies!” said the head of the House of National Unity, Roman Koshelev.

For the first time, first-graders of the Mangush municipal district received gifts from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast for the new school year. It should be recalled that Nizhny Novgorod residents began assisting the third sponsored territory in the DPR – Mangush – in 2025. Now 155 backpacks were delivered there.

“We express our sincere gratitude to the governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and his entire team for such valuable support of our young residents who are beginning their path to knowledge. This is a huge help to families in preparing a child for school. The wonderful gift will make the start of our children’s school life even more joyful and memorable,” said Natalia Toskhoparan, a representative of the administration of the Mangush municipal district.

The gifts were presented by activists of the volunteer center of the House of National Unity. 476 backpacks and the same number of “Otlichnik” school kits were handed over to first-graders of Khartsyzk. Among those who received gifts for the Day of Knowledge were students of School No. 3. The festive presentation ceremony took place in the assembly hall. Children, parents and teachers took part.

“Any help provided by our sponsoring region is important to us. The children are very happy with the gifts, and we are especially grateful to you for that,” emphasized Lydia Chernova, the principal of School No. 3 in the city of Khartsyzk.

Another 80 backpacks with school kits were delivered to Ilovaisk.

Textbooks in various subjects were delivered to two technical colleges of the Khartsyzk city district.

“This year, in addition to school backpacks, we also delivered 5,740 textbooks to the technical colleges of the Khartsyzk city district. These are textbooks in a wide range of subjects: Russian language, literature, social studies, ecology, biology and others. Some editions come with additional study guides for secondary vocational education and practical manuals. For example, there is a manual ‘First Aid, Basics of Teaching First Aid, Basics of Caring for the Sick,’” said Andrey Sudar, deputy head of the House of National Unity for implementation of the special infrastructure project.

Part of the backpacks and kits for first-graders in the sponsored territories will be presented at the ceremonial school assemblies on September 1.
