The large Yezhov family from Arzamas became one of the winners of the All‑Russian "Family of the Year – 2025" contest. The Nizhny Novgorod family and 19 other participating families from other regions of the country were recognized as the best in the "Family – Guardian of Traditions" category. In total, 89 Russian families won awards across the contest's various categories.

As noted by the Ministry of Social Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, this year the "Family of the Year" contest was held for the tenth time. Both the regional and the all‑Russian stages were organized online – jury members evaluated participants' portfolios.

The ministry reported that the Yezhov family is currently raising five children, and a sixth child is expected soon. The head of the family, Dmitry Viktorovich, is an ophthalmologist who runs a medical clinic, participates in international and Russian conferences, provides volunteer medical assistance to people with disabilities, the needy, and participants in the special military operation. He is interested in winter swimming, wrestling and motorsport.

His wife, Vera Maksimovna, is a teacher of English and German who educates the children herself through homeschooling. She is a childbirth preparation instructor and practices Eastern martial arts, swimming and volleyball.

One of the family's main values is traditions. Dmitry Viktorovich continues a dynasty of doctors, and Vera Maksimovna is a teacher in the fifth generation.

"Winning such a contest is a real gift for the birth of my sixth child! When we won the regional stage – the 'Nizhny Novgorod Family' contest – there was boundless joy, and now the emotions are even greater! I would very much like to personally travel to the award ceremony in Moscow," the woman from Nizhny Novgorod said.

Igor Sedykh, Minister of Social Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, congratulated the family on their victory. He noted that each year residents of the region are increasingly taking part in various family competitions, demonstrating their talents and achievements, and receiving well‑deserved awards.

"We are proud of our families, and even more so of large families! Families are the foundation of the region's well‑being, its growth and development. I would point out that Nizhny Novgorod residents have not won the 'Family of the Year' contest for the first time. Last year, the Putyunins from the Voskresensky district were recognized as winners in the 'Young Family' category, and the year before that the Dormidontov family from the Gorodets district won in the same category. It is pleasant to realize that our families continue the traditions of their ancestors: this is a wonderful example for the youth of the whole country!" Igor Sedykh said.

Recall that the All‑Russian "Family of the Year" contest is aimed at supporting families with children and strengthening family values in the country. This is one of the most important areas of work within the new national project "Family".

The national project "Family" has been implemented in Russia since 2025 at the initiative of the country's president, Vladimir Putin. It succeeds the previously active national projects "Demography" and "Culture" and includes measures that contribute to the comprehensive development of families: expanding support measures, creating conditions for active longevity of the older generation, and ensuring quality and accessible medical care.
