      At Nizhny Novgorod's "School 800" the cost of meals has risen significantly, NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" readers reported. According to one parent, from September 1 the daily amount for breakfast and lunch per pupil will increase from 327 to 500 rubles.

      Officials at the educational institution told the editorial office that a tender to select a new catering operator was held ahead of the new academic year. Three companies participated, and their proposals were reviewed by the supervisory board. As a result, the supplier that offered the most suitable terms was chosen.

      It is noted that meal prices at the school had not changed for almost two years. The current increase, averaging about 50%, is partly due to the overall rise in food costs.

      The institution emphasized that the canteens in the "School 800" buildings are designed for a table-setting service model, unlike the traditional serving-line system used in municipal schools.

      The school also reminded that students are offered the option of three meals a day. At the same time, parents can independently choose which meals will be included in their child's diet, based on their individual schedule.

      Earlier it was reported that, as of July 1, the cost of meals in Nizhny Novgorod's kindergartens and schools had increased.
