Nearly 2,000 educational institutions in the Nizhny Novgorod region took part in the All‑Russian anti‑terrorism drills.

      On August 28, educational institutions in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast joined the All‑Russian anti‑terrorism exercises. Employees of kindergartens, schools, colleges and technical schools, universities, as well as organizations for additional education, took part together with specialists from security agencies. During the exercises two scenarios were practiced: an attack on a facility and the discovery of an explosive device in an educational institution.

      As reported by Russia’s Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov, for the first time at the nationwide level workers and representatives of the security service of preschool educational organizations are being involved in the exercises. He specified that the Ministry of Education sent recommendations to the regions on conducting drills and trainings in kindergartens to practice actions in the event of a terrorist threat, as well as a program and methodological recommendations for preparing preschool children to act under various types of threats.

      The Minister of Education and Science of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Mikhail Puchkov, said that almost two thousand educational organizations in the region joined the exercises. During the events the minister was at the regional operational headquarters on the premises of the EMERCOM of Russia Directorate for Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. He had the opportunity to observe the work of specialists from each organization in real time.

      “On the eve of the new school year, conducting such exercises is very important. They allow teaching and administrative staff to better understand their actions in emergency situations. During the exercises all staff movement schemes were practiced, and the effectiveness of the alert and evacuation management system was checked. All educational institutions successfully coped with the tasks set,” summed up Mikhail Puchkov, Minister of Education and Science of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
