A St. Petersburg man caught with 110 kg of drugs was sentenced in Nizhny Novgorod.

       Incidents: The Soviet District Court of Nizhny Novgorod handed down a sentence to a resident of Saint Petersburg accused of crimes related to the illegal circulation of potent substances, the regional prosecutor’s office press service reported.

      The man was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 234 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — possession and distribution of potent preparations not included in the list of narcotic or psychotropic agents, committed by an organized group in a large amount. In addition, the court found him guilty of attempted commission of a similar crime, as provided for in Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 3 of Article 234 of the Criminal Code.

      As established during the trial, the defendant acted as part of an organized group. Using the internet and other telecommunications channels, he took part in distributing large consignments of prohibited substances. His duties included storing, packaging and sending the goods to various regions of the country.

      As a result of operational measures, law enforcement officers seized more than 110 kg of potent substances from illicit circulation.

      The court sentenced the defendant to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment to be served in a general-regime correctional colony.

      Earlier it was reported that a teacher from Nizhny Novgorod who had been dismissed over nude photos was detained by police.
