      For the first time, a water birth took place at Maternity Hospital No. 4 in Nizhny Novgorod, the medical portal "Stacionar-press" reports.

      According to the source, on August 27, 2025, a girl weighing 4,110 grams was born in a warm bath. This event marked a significant milestone in the development of gentle birthing practices in the region.

      As doctors explain, being in water helps a woman better tolerate the first stage of labor: relaxation reduces pain and speeds up cervical dilation. Under such conditions there is no need for epidural anesthesia or opioid drugs. In addition, the need for an episiotomy is less frequent, and the risk of tears is minimized.

      The organizer of the master class for Nizhny Novgorod medical professionals was the well-known Russian obstetrician Ekaterina Glok, a mother of eight and a consistent opponent of the traditional supine position during labor.

      According to available information, this was the mother's third child. The baby was immediately examined by neonatologists: doctors confirmed the absence of abnormalities. The mother and the newborn are doing well.

      Earlier it was reported that couples in Nizhny Novgorod are increasingly choosing the format of partner births.
