The architectural and artistic concept for the exterior appearance of Zvezdinka Street was approved in Nizhny Novgorod.

      At the instruction of the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, active work continues in the city on creating and implementing architectural and artistic concepts for the external appearance of city streets. Thus, the next street chosen for alignment is Zvezdinka Street in the Nizhegorodsky district. This was reported by the city Department of Urban Development and Architecture.

      Department specialists noted that at present there is no unified approach to outdoor informational signage on the street. A significant portion of the structures is outdated and dilapidated. In addition, many objects are made of poor-quality materials and installed chaotically, without regard to the architectural, historical and stylistic features of the buildings.

      "The document was developed with the aim of forming a full-fledged architectural and artistic urban environment, improving its quality and artistic-aesthetic characteristics, modernizing facades taking into account the architectural and historical features of the street, and organizing the placement of informational structures in Nizhny Novgorod. The concept defines the main locations for placing such elements so that they do not disrupt the city's external architectural appearance," the department said.

      According to the approved concept, restrictions on the color design of informational structures are being introduced on Zvezdinka Street to reduce visual noise. Their color scheme must be uniform across the facades of a single building and correspond to its color solution. The placement of the graphic part of informational logos in the form of a trademark or service mark in the color scheme according to registration with the Federal Service for Intellectual Property is permitted.

      The concept also sets out requirements for the fonts of informational structures: using display and decorative fonts, as well as fonts imitating calligraphy and handwritten inscriptions, is unacceptable as they hinder readability. Distorting letters, including stretching them in width and height, applying varying spacing (horizontal or vertical) and shifting characters off the baseline within a single word is also prohibited.

      Recall that work on creating concepts is carried out on an ongoing basis. Thus, earlier architectural and artistic concepts were developed and approved by the head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, for Filchenkova Street, Yubileyny Boulevard, Oktyabr Avenue, Gagarin Avenue (from Myza station to the village of Olgino), Osharskaya Street (from Bulinsky Street to Salganskaya Street), Busygin Avenue and Meshchersky Boulevard, as well as Kominterna Street (from Yubileyny Boulevard to Soyuzny Lane) and others. Changes have been made to the approved concepts for Rozhdestvenskaya Street, Vedenyapin Street and the Lower Volga Embankment.
