      Major repair work has begun at entrance No. 6 of the Zarechnaya metro station in Nizhny Novgorod. According to the Municipal Enterprise "Nizhny Novgorod Metro", a new covered pavilion will be built here, whose architectural concept was chosen following an open competition.

      As part of the reconstruction, a major overhaul of the perimeter pavement, parapet structures and rooms under the staircase is planned. The stair flights and landings will also be renovated — a heating system will be installed and the surfaces clad with porcelain stoneware.

      In addition, a metal frame for the pavilion will be erected, a ventilated façade and a roof made of sandwich panels will be installed. Inside, the pavilion will also be finished with porcelain stoneware tiles.

      For passenger convenience, new stainless-steel railings and handrails, Metro-type swing doors and stained-glass structures will be installed.

      Security will be provided by CCTV systems and intercom devices.

      Recall that traffic on the section of Lenin Avenue is temporarily restricted due to the construction work.

      It is added that about 90 million rubles have been allocated for the modernization of the four above-ground covered pavilions of the Zarechnaya metro station. It was reported that repair work on staircases No. 1 and No. 2 should be completed by July 21, and on staircases No. 4 and No. 6 — by December 19, 2025. In April, repair work and the installation of pavilions on staircases No. 1 and No. 2 began.

      It also became known that replacement of outdated turnstiles in the Nizhny Novgorod metro will begin at Zarechnaya station.
