      "Pari Nizhny Novgorod" suffered a crushing defeat in the third round of the group stage of the RPL Path of the Russian Cup, losing to Moscow's Spartak 0:4. The match was held at the Lukoil Arena in Moscow.

      The Nizhny Novgorod side started actively and created several dangerous chances in the opening minutes but failed to convert them. Spartak, however, took their chance. In the 12th minute the hosts opened the scoring — 1:0.

      The conceded goal cooled Pari Nizhny Novgorod's attacking momentum. In the 36th minute the Nizhny Novgorod team committed a foul near their penalty area. Lukyanov saved the set-piece shot, but the first to follow up was the red-and-whites' defender Ilya Samoshnikov — 2:0. Near the end of the first half Pari Nizhny Novgorod managed to create pressure on the hosts' goal, but they failed to reduce the deficit before halftime.

      The second half began less actively. The Nizhny Novgorod side ceded the initiative to Spartak and tried to play on the counterattack, but they rarely created any real danger.

      In the 69th minute the Muscovites launched an attack down the right flank. After a cross into the box, Vadim Pigas, in a tussle with Anton Zabolotny, deflected the ball into his own net — 3:0.

      In the remaining time Pari Nizhny Novgorod launched several attacks but could not change the score. Spartak, however, in the 88th minute, after mistakes by the Nizhny Novgorod defense, sent the ball into an empty net — making it 4:0.

      After this defeat Pari Nizhny Novgorod, with three points, occupies third place in their Russian Cup group.

      For the Nizhny Novgorod side this is the second consecutive shutout defeat. In the sixth round of the RPL the club lost to Dynamo 0:3.

      Earlier it was reported that general director Melik-Guseynov may leave his post.
