Two Nizhny Novgorod heavy equipment operators became prize-winners at the federal stage of the professional skills contest "Best in Profession." The results in the categories "Bulldozer Operator" and "Excavator Operator" were summed up in Novocheboksarsk.

The event took place within the federal project "The Working Person" of the national project "Personnel," implemented at the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The goal of the contest is to raise the prestige of working professions, improve professional knowledge and work methods, and promote the development of workforce qualifications.

Twenty-three specialists from 16 regions of Russia competed for the title of the best in their field. The Nizhny Novgorod region was represented at the contest by employees of the branch of LLC Gazprom Transgaz Nizhny Novgorod, Oleg Petrov and Sergey Snegov. Based on the results of the trials, both finished among the top three prize-winners. Sergey Snegov took second place in the "Excavator Operator" category, and Oleg Petrov took third place in the "Bulldozer Operator" category.

"The success of the Nizhny Novgorod operators at the all-Russian contest clearly demonstrates the high level of preparation of the workforce in our region. Such victories strengthen the prestige of working professions and show young people that being a highly skilled specialist is truly dignified and promising," emphasized the head of the Department for Labor and Employment of the Population of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Igor Pantyukhin.

The competition program consisted of two stages: theoretical testing on knowledge of machinery construction, occupational safety standards and sanitary safety, and a difficult practical task during which participants demonstrated precise control of heavy specialized machinery against the clock.

"Professional skills contests are an essential tool in the work of staffing centers. They not only identify the best of the best, but also set benchmarks for the vocational education system, showing which competencies are most in demand in today's labor market. We are glad that the Nizhny Novgorod participants showed excellent results," noted the director of the Nizhny Novgorod staffing center "Work of Russia," Lyudmila Yegorova.

Recall that on September 11–12, 2025 the federal stage of the "Best in Profession" contest in the nomination "Best Seamstress" will be held at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair. The Nizhny Novgorod region will be represented by the winner of the regional stage, an employee of LLC Brig, Nadezhda Stepanova, with 11 years of work experience. The leaders of the final trials will receive cash prizes: 1 million rubles for first place, 500,000 rubles for second, and 300,000 rubles for third. The awards ceremony for winners of all federal stages will take place in Moscow in December.
