An Amur tiger is settling into a new enclosure at Nizhny Novgorod's "Limpopo".

      The Amur tiger Zlatogor has moved into a modernized enclosure, the construction of which was completed as part of the first phase of reconstruction at the "Limpopo" zoo in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the zoo's press service.

      Now the predator has a spacious, heated pavilion that even includes a special den, which will be needed when Zlatogor gets a mate and offspring. The interior walls of the pavilion are decorated with images of natural landscapes characteristic of the Amur tiger's habitat.

      The open part of the enclosure has also undergone changes. A wooden resting platform and new toys have been added — a hanging tire and a sturdy ball into which zoo staff hide treats. Such devices help the tiger develop agility and stay active.

      An information stand about the rare predator has been installed next to the enclosure for visitors.

      As the zoo director Vladimir Gerasichkin said, Zlatogor is still young and has not yet reached the age when a mate can be chosen for him. However, Limpopo is already preparing for this stage.

      The second part of the reconstruction will begin shortly, during which the right side of the enclosure will be renovated. After the work is completed, the area will be fully prepared for the joint residence of a pair of Amur tigers.

      It was previously reported that live broadcasts from the animal enclosures would not be launched at Limpopo.
