The driver who wrecked Victory Boulevard in Dzerzhinsk has been arrested.

      Incidents: In Dzerzhinsk, a driver drove onto Pobedy Boulevard, knocked over a bench, turned around on a flowerbed and fled the scene. The incident, which caused wide public outcry, was recorded by the "Safe City" surveillance system cameras.

      As the city head Mikhail Klinkov reported on his Telegram channel, elements of the public improvements were damaged by the offender's actions, including a bench on the recently renovated site.

      "We rejoiced in the improvement of this public area that residents voted for: the new paving, the lighting, the benches. But improvements are only half the story. A public space will exist and delight people as long as citizens take care of it," he added.

      The mayor emphasized that the interaction between the "Safe City" system and law enforcement agencies allows for a prompt response to such incidents.

      "The perpetrator has already been identified. Administration specialists are calculating the amount of damage. The countdown to holding him accountable has begun," Klinkov wrote.

      According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the identity of the offender was quickly established. He was arrested for 10 days.

      Earlier it was reported that a motorcyclist crashed into a road barrier on Rodionova Street in Nizhny Novgorod and died at the scene.
