      The Gorodetsky court fined the Nizhny Novgorod regional operator for environmental violations at the municipal solid waste landfill in the Gorodetsky District. This was reported by the press service of the interregional office of Rosprirodnadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Mordovia.

      According to it, the basis for bringing the operator to account were the results of an unscheduled inspection conducted by the office in May–June of this year. Inspectors recorded the placement of wastes prohibited from landfilling that contain valuable components, and also identified an accumulation of leachate outside a specially equipped area.

      The court found that JSC "Sitimatic – NN" violated environmental protection requirements in the handling of waste, which is qualified under Part 1 and Part 4 of Article 8.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The company's guilt was found to be proven. Sanctions under these articles provide for a fine or temporary suspension of activities for up to 90 days. However, the court took into account that the organization is taking measures to eliminate the violations, and limited itself to a fine of 150,000 rubles.

      The agency added that in 2024 the operation of this landfill was already suspended for similar reasons.

      Recall that on the night of April 26 to 27 a large fire broke out at the MSW landfill in the Gorodetsky district. Earlier, the dump had also burned in September 2024.
